19th February 2015
Hotel Thule,Windhoek
Rosina Leonard represented the Young Earth Scientist
Network Namibia at the National Commission on Research, Science and Technology
(NCRST) Information Sharing Session in Windhoek. This event was the first step in NCRST
engagement plan for youth prior to issuing the NCRST’s Call for Youth
Innovators 2015. The Call for Youth Innovators is targeting all youth affiliated
to recognized or registered youth organisations in Namibia. In order to
participate in the Call, youth need to prepare a proposal that reflects the
intent to develop an innovative product or service. The Information Sharing
Session was held to provide youth with information related such as funding and
mentorship opportunities to this call. The objective is to transform youth’s
ideas into actions within the information and Communications Technology (ICT)
Sector.
The
information Sharing started off with the introductory sessions and later, some
youth organisations presented on what they are about. Overall, it was worth it
to have met various youth from other youth groups in Namibia. Additionally,
these NCRST’s Call are a good initiatives to the young geoscientists with a
dream of innovating scientific products that can help collect and interpret
scientific data for the benefit of society.
The
National Commission on Research, Science and Technology (NCRST) plan to have
the Youth Innovators Calls regularly.
